Devil's Brigade: To Helena and Back
A fabulous video with interviews of many of the Helena Force members. Those who trained there and eventually moved back after the ward to live their lives in Helena. Some of the men include Joe Glass, Mark Radcliffe and my grandfather Herb Goodwin.

Suicide Missions: The Black Devils
Here is one of the best documentaries about
the FSSF. It is no longer for sale and never
will be again. It will also most likely
NEVER be played again on TV.

So enjoy!!!

Victory Remembered: Legacy of the Black Devils
This is the most recent documentary I know of shot in 2014 about the force members and family members returning to Italy and France on one of the FSSF Tours. Be sure to check out the Tours page if you are interested in going to visit for yourself.

RiMo (MountainGirl) Productions Presents
IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE FORCE

An Honorable Thomas J. Ratcliff, USA (Retired) Production
Music by Musicisti Basso Lazio and In Canto Gospel
Edited and Directed by Tamar V. Scoggin (McKee)

From the mountains, valleys and villages of central Italy once occupied by the Germans, to the now-picturesque Mediterranean beachhead of Anzio, to the hazy gates of 21st century Rome, the documentary film IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE FORCE both breathtakingly and intimately documents the final return of veterans from "The Force" (the first and only joint unit of U.S. and Canadian soldiers and precursors to today's special forces) to key World War II battle sites that led to the liberation of Rome from Nazi occupation on 4 June 1944.

Filmed over nine days' journey in the summer of 2010, IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE FORCE also travels to the memorials and cemeteries emerging in post-war commemoration of those killed-in-action in the Italian Campaign. This film serves as critical documentation of the fading numbers of World War II veterans - and that of living Force veterans in particular - while capturing the discoveries younger generations are making about these fading U.S. and Canadian veteran soldiers. The return to Italy for reconciliation witnessed in this film thus comes to symbolize not just a brotherhood but a family that transcends unexpected national borders and generations.

This is only a clip from this documentary.

This video shows the exhumation of 14 missing german soldiers from a mass grave in Villeneuve-Loubet, near Nice, France.
These soldiers were killed in combat in Villeneuve in a battle against Canadian and American soldiers of the "First Special Service Force" after the allies landed in southern France in August 1944. Locals buried the bodies in a mass grave that was only rediscovered in 2006. The bodies were later reburied at the Berneuil German Military Cemetery in France. Several bodies were identified, and a few surviving familly members were found. The author of this video is trying to contact veterans who fought in the region of Nice, as well as related documents. If you can help, post a comment.
This compilation of news reports shows the exhumation of the bodies of 14 missing in action German soldiers from an unmarked mass grave in Villeneuve-Loubet near Nice, France. These soldiers were killed in combat against the First Special Service Force.

Our Grandpa was a "Black Devil"
I made this short documentary for a family film festival at our church. I used footage that the FSSFA owns and let a company use to make the documentary "Suicide Missions". Then I shot some clips of my boys (Herb's great grandchildren) and added some of my own pictures as well as commentary. Thanks to those I got clips from.

I hope you enjoy it!!! - Eric Morgensen
